Task 2
Question: Acts of violence and terrorism are increasing throughout the world. Discuss its causes and effects. What suggestions do you have to eradicate them?

The twenty-first century has witnessed a plethora of unprecedented giant strides which have ushered in monumental changes in every arena of human life. Nonetheless, amidst this triumphant golden age of countless spectacular achievements, a series of setbacks to man's peaceful and prosperous existence have arisen in every nook and cranny of the globe, signalling an era of disharmony, hostility and a bleak prospect. Unfortunately, appalling spectacles of wanton destruction and gruesome deaths have caused untold grief and disbelief in the minds of millions of level-headed people all over the world. Enunciating the salient causes and effects of this pernicious phenomenon, I would candidly put forward certain down-to-earth suggestions in order to curtail occurrences of violence and terrorism.

While fathoming out diverse causes of violence and terrorism, at the outset, it has to be made amply clear that exploitation of people and peoples exists politically, religiously and economically for the vested interests of the mighty, affluent and influential nations and leaders. To explicate, the under-developed countries have been subjugated by the super powers. Subsequently, their freedom to travel, their trade and commerce, their internal and external affairs are dictated and directed by alien rulers. When subjugation and suppression persist, utter discontent and distress will emerge among citizens, who, in turn, mobilize support in a clandestine way for their armed movement. Later, these campaigns against the so-called foreign rule become more aggressive and eventually end up in more rebellions and uprisings. Another factor that could be added to the litany of reasons why people resort to aggression is the abject penury, coupled with paucity of employment opportunities in such countries. Last but not least, malicious-minded politicians and bureaucrats often take advantage of the illiteracy of the less privileged in the society. Consequently, these poverty-stricken groups are impelled to take up arms en masse to organize riots and revolts against the established regimes.

The awesome aftermath of these escalating violence is that the international peace is at stake despite the bona fide endeavours of pacifists. Even though myriads of peace loving people and peoples have been trying their utmost to resolve many a knotty issue, narrow-minded rulers and administrators at the helm quite often sabotage the genuine initiative to establish perpetual peace. It is indeed a plain truth that, under the aegis of the UN, umpteen crusades have been planned and executed for the sake of global peace. My earnest suggestion is that these praiseworthy campaigns be continued without any hindrance. Further, it is reckoned that more steadfast co-operation and staunch support of world leaders are to be sought in order that peace is close at hand. Over and above that, empowering the under developed nations and their citizens with more fund and freedom is absolutely imperative to help eradicate subversive activities.

In gist, with a view to combat violence and terrorism, earnest efforts at global level ought to be organized and synchronized systematically. Furthermore, to alleviate the agony and anguish of people languishing in sordid conditions, international aid agencies have to render substantial succour, thus safeguarding the dignity of all countries and citizens, and paving the way for perennial peace throughout the world.
