Task 2
Question:The older you get, the more difficult life becomes. Discuss.

Age indeed is one of the parameters that determine one's efficiency, capability and skills. Biologists en masse ascertain unambiguously that, the older one gets, the more hardships one encounters in life. Contrary to this conventional wisdom, another school of thought shared by a tiny minority is diametrically opposite to the aforesaid statement. This essay, however, fathoms out all the intricacies of old age, together with the apprehensions and blissful experiences of the senior citizens.

Humans, from the craddle to the grave, undergo cardinal and profound metamorphosis in life. On various forums, sociologists and professional social workers have candidly opined that the people at the dotage who languish in sordid conditions are increasing at an alarming rate. Quite many of them lead a forlorn and desolate life for want of care and financial support. As per the recent census carried out by the Government of India, it is reported the number of sexagenarians has surged at a rapid rate since 1990 owing to giant strides in the modern medicine. However, the startling revelation of the findings that many of them lead a despondent life has mystified the officialdom. Further, the upsurge in the old age homes in the country is another obvious indicator that the senior citizens are not looked after adequately well at their respective homes. Psychologically, they are more pensive, and bundles of pent-up frustrations and emotions. In toto, a pall of gloom pervades in and around them.

To rub salt into their wounds, the geriatric generation is affected with several ailments such as diabetes, cholesterol, joint pain et cetera. Consequently, at this juncture of crisis, they would require constant assistance of someone in all of their activities. A situation devoid of solid succour may put them at a vulnerable predicament, thus leaving them in grave jeopardy.

Despite the stark fact the dotage does denote the days of turmoil, both physically and emotionally, quite many of them are undoubtedly capable of excelling in their pet field of activity provided that they do not succumb to the oft-repeated term: old age. This driving force helps them move forward with a great deal of grit and gusto, which paves the way for a jolly good life.

While concluding, it can be pinpointed that a consensus regarding the dire and genuine needs of the people at the dotage has to be reached: it is the bounden duty of each and everyone to manifest more magnanimity and compassion towards the senior citizens; furthermore those at the helm of governing bodies ought to organize substantial succour to this precarious group of people in order that their agony and anguish could be alleviated to a large extent.
