Task 2
Question: It is said that Government should spend more money on the existing public transport rather than on constructing new railway lines. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In spite of the pernicious repercussions inflicted on the earth, the think-tank is bent on constructing new railway lines under the pretext of technological advancement. They are of firm view that such ultra-sophisticated railway network connecting mega cities would usher in giant economic boom, which would invite welcome comments from IMF, WB and other monetary organizations. The other group which opposes this contention voices their concern that such a rail project could jeopardize the interests of the under-privileged, and eventually empty the Exchequer. At this juncture, I would extend my allegiance to a balanced view incorporating the virtues of both the ideologies.

Indeed, many are the merits of massive research and development, industry, innovation and expansion. In fact, a reliable infrastructure is a prerequisite that facilitates the modern means of transport. The faster one can reach the destination, the greater its benefits will be. Needless to say, new railway system such as metro rail enables passengers to commute easily and rapidly. To explicate further, bullet trains can satisfy the demand for supersonic travel of technocrats and other professional experts who insist on punctuality and accountability. In a nutshell, faster rail, greater speed, better performance and punctuality could be enumerated as salient attributes of the initiative for fast and new railway lines.

On the contrary, the arch-critics of the so-called developmental activities for faster railway lines are determined to expose the stark realities that could surface in case new projects of this magnitude are implemented. First and foremost, if such an initiative is materialized, a plethora of people will be landless and homeless in the process of expansion. These kinds of colossal ventures could ruin the environment, which will gradually pave the way for climate change and further natural catastrophe. To say the least, the common man will not be in a position to avail the amenities of such mega projects, which could be beyond their affordability. Finally, it has to be borne in mind that, whenever huge developmental activities are undertaken by the officialdom, the genuine concerns of the less privileged in the society are to be safeguarded. Simultaneously equal emphasis is to be laid on the modernization of the railway network without hurting the man and the environment.

In the synopsis of this lengthy discourse, I would like to affirmatively assert that more fund has got to be allocated for improving the existing public transport, which is normally within the reach of a common man. Last but not least, it ought to be reiterated that a nation's progress is of paramount importance as well. Hence, while implementing huge projects, more magnanimity should be manifested by all concerned to help arrive at a feasible solution in an amicable way.
